Why Make Banana Pancakes?
When we have extra ripe bananas I like to make these simple banana pancakes that the whole family can enjoy. Look for bananas that are spotted and starting to get soft, but not overly ripe or fermented (yuck)! The very ripe bananas add a rich flavor and natural sweetness to the pancake.
No Added Sugar
This recipe is great for kids (and adults) as a healthier option because it all comes together with no added sugar! The pancakes still taste great with natural sweetness coming from the ripe bananas.
Recipe

Easy, toddler-friendly banana pancakes that come together in less than 10 minutes!
Ingredients
Wet
- 1.5 medium banana ripe
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup milk or milk substitute
Dry
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch cinnamon to taste
Instructions
- Mash the bananas in a medium bowl. Add the egg and milk and mix everything together well.
- In a separate bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and fold the mixture until just combined.
- Cook pancakes in a greased pan on low-medium heat, ~2-3 minutes per side or until cooked through.
Notes
You can substitute the 100% white flour with 50% white flour and 50% whole wheat flour, or 75% white flour and 25% almond flour! I suspect this recipe will work well with other flour types and combinations, but these are the ones I’ve tried so far.
